Oscar Mayer and Guinness World Records invite you to eat hot dogs in Valencia.
Valencians, Falleros and visitors to Valencia will all be at the hot dog eating event t on Saturday 12th March from 11.30 am at Puente de las Flores (The Bridge of Flowers) in Valencia.
The aim of this event is to get the the highest concentration of people in history, eating hot dogs at once. Success will result in an entry to the Guinness World Records.

Ninot Parade through Valencia

The traditional Ninot Parade of 1,100 people will tonight fill the streets of Valencia.
Leaving Calle Játiva at 22:30 (that’s Spanish 22:30 so be prepared to wait a little longer) via Marqués de Sotelo past the beautiful Post Office building – Correos – up to the doors of City Hall/Ayuntamiento on Plaza del Ayuntamiento, which will house the main ninot of Fallas 2011.
The arrival of the committee parade in the square will trigger a fantastic colourful mascletá (firework display, Spanish style).

Two new routes to Valencia with Ryanair

Ryanair, the Irish low-cost airline in case you don’t know who they are, has launched two new routes from Valencia airport.
The two new routes, to Gran Canaria and Tenerife Sur, will have twice per week on Mondays and Thursdays from Tenerife Sur, and Wednesdays and Sundays from Gran Canaria.
The first flights from Manises were left mid February bound for Gran Canaria and Tenerife Sur. Ryanair’s Head of Marketing and Sales to Spain said that with these two new routes, Valencia could enjoy a real break in the sun, lay on paradise island beaches, all without leaving Spain.

MTV Winter 2011 line up and date has been announced for Valencia.
On the 12th of March, Valencia will hold the fourth MTV Winter Festival’s edition at the impressive architectural complex of The City of Arts and Sciences.
The last three MTV Winter Festivals have seen the likes of The Cure, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys and HIM. This time the headline acts are My Chemical Romance and SUM 41 with special DJ sets from Orbital and UK band Groove Armada. Supporting band will be Welcome Dinasty – winners of a recent rock contest.

Get your DIY head on because Swedish home furnishing giant IKEA is finally coming to town!
The chosen site in La Muela, Paterna, near the CV 35, is on land partly owned privately and part owned by the Ministry of Defence.
After studying four other site proposals, Paterna Town Hall stated the reason for the location choice was its situation behind the sports centre and also the proximity to the popular Heron City commercial centre. The new store will hopefully blend into its surroundings being backed by similar height buildings.

Until 10th October, the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia will be hosting Fashion Art, an exhibition that aims to analyse the cultural interaction and aesthetic references between the visual arts and fashion design.
The exhibition brings together a collection of over 40 hand-painted dresses that blend fashion and design with the visual arts. Fashion Art, located in the Calle Mayor section of the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum, is arriving in Europe for the first time, having travelled to several Latin American cities such as Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Santiago de Chile, among others.

On three Thursdays in September, the 16th, 23rd and 30th,  at 11 p.m, the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM) in Valencia will be hosting a series of free concerts by Bob Sands & Fabio Miano Quartet, Kiko Berenguer with the final performance given by the IVAM Jazz Ensemble and Antonio Serrano.
The musicians taking part in the Jazz a l’IVAM season include the saxophonist and composer Bob Sands, born in Manhattan, who has the honour of having received the Honorable Mention Award from DownBeat magazine. He has also performed on international tours with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
