The intention of the IVAM, the Valencian Institute of Modern Art, is the investigation and diffusion of twentieth-century art. Its programme of activities offers permanent collections, temporary exhibitions, talks, courses, workshops and publications.

It has two premises: the Centre Julio González, opened in 1989, and the Sala de la Muralla opened in 1991.
The Centre Julio González is a newly-erected 18,000 m2 building, most of which is open to the public. The Bullring is located in the city centre, next to the Northern Station. It is a neoclassic building design by Sebastián Monleón, built between 1850-1860, of 18 metres high and the ring has a diameter of 52 metres. The main bullfights take place during Fallas (March) and at the July Fair. Bullfighting Museum.
Founded in 1929, it is one of the oldest and most important in Spain, and has historical objects from the XVIII, XIX, and XX centuries.

Try to catch an excellent exhibit called Modern India at the IVAM. Visitors were taken a tour of India’s history, from colonialism to the present day, through the eyes of its artists.
A large, comprehensive exhibit, filled with oil paintings, sculptures, photography, and audio-visual displays, Modern India provided an excellent couple hours of escapism.
