a life in valencia Plaza Redonda

The Round Place

Plaza Redonda is located just off Calle De Los Derechos.

It’s a small interior plaza surrounded by small and narrow streets, inviting you to explore the old quarter.

You enter this interesting square by one of several arches. It is one of those little corners of the city that possesses a really special kind of charm, much appreciated by tourists, visitors and residents alike.

In the very centre of the square is a small fountain. Around the inside there are small shops selling souvenirs, local crafts, ceramics, haberdashery, clothing and of course the traditional white and blond lace.

All the buildings surrounding it are actually round and you will find beautiful tiles decorating the outside of the stalls. On Sunday the square is home to a very unusual market selling everything from inexpensive clothing to pets and keepsakes to religious stamps and statuettes.

It’s a market locally known as ‘el clot’ (‘the hole’).
